Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum has emerged as the top-performing district among Jharkhand’s 24 districts in the 15th edition of the ‘District education system performance’ (DSEP) monthly review report for July 2026 by scoring 76.38%.The DSEP review assesses districts on a range of parameters, including learning achievements, school governance, monitoring systems and data management, providing a monthly snapshot of educational performance across Jharkhand.The district scored 55.71% out of 70% in ‘high priority indicators’ (HPI) and 20.68% out of 30% in ‘enabling indicators’ (EI), reflecting improvements in learning outcomes, school monitoring, supervision, and timely reporting of educational data.East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Rajiv Ranjan said, “The district’s rank was the outcome of collective efforts of the administration, education department, block- and cluster-level officials, headmasters, teachers and other stakeholders.”Officials attributed the achievement to sustained academic planning, effective monitoring mechanisms, and coordinated efforts across various levels of the education system.“The achievement reflects our commitment to strengthening educational outcomes and improving overall school performance across the district,” the DC said.Neighbouring Seraikela-Kharsawan district secured the sixth position in the state rankings with an overall score of 67.80%, comprising 50.04% in HPI and 17.18% in EI.However, West Singhbhum ranked 23rd with an overall score of 53.13%. The district scored 39.21% in HPI and 13.92% in EI.
