Nagpur: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, which traditionally celebrated Gudi Padwa as Varshapratipada, organised a Ghosh (band) march through streets of Mahal on Thursday, combining ritual observance with homage to Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar as the day coincides with Sangh founder’s birth anniversary. As per Hindu calendar, Dr Hedgewar was born on day of Gudi Padwa.The march began from the RSS headquarters and moved through key stretches of Mahal, drawing attention for its disciplined formations and coordinated band performances. A halt was made near Dr Hedgewar’s residence near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Putla Square. The band rendered Keshavstav at the spot, while slogans filled the air, lending a ceremonial tone to the gathering.From there, the procession continued towards Reshimbagh, maintaining formation as residents watched from the sidelines, with some greeting participants and offering flowers along the route. The turnout remained steady, with swayamsevaks participating in traditional attire.RSS members described the day as one of the six key annual utsavs, marking both the beginning of the Hindu New Year and the birth anniversary of Dr Hedgewar. The observance, holds organisational and cultural significance. The march, marked by rhythmic tunes, slogans, and halts for tribute, formed part of Gudi Padwa observances linked to the organisation.
