Yavatmal: In a daring pre-dawn burglary, unidentified miscreants looted gold, silver ornaments and cash collectively worth Rs97 .5 lakh from Rajendra Jewellers in Mohada village of Pandharkawda taluka, Yavatmal district. The burglars reportedly executed the entire operation within 20 minutes before fleeing on a motorcycle.According to police, Rajendra Shrimall Verma, 61, has been running Rajendra Jewellers adjacent to his residence for nearly five decades. Verma was alerted early Wednesday morning by neighbour Abdul Rajwani that the shop’s shutter was partially open.On inspecting the premises, Verma found that the cupboards and locker were broken open and all valuables were missing.CCTV footage recovered from the shop shows four masked men wearing gloves entering the premises between 4.05 am and 4.25 am. The footage also captured the accused fleeing the scene on a motorcycle immediately after carrying out the burglary.The stolen property includes Rs1 .5 lakh cash, along with a large quantity of gold and silver ornaments. The total value of the stolen property was estimated at Rs 97.5 lakh, according to the police complaint.Soon after receiving information about the incident, Superintendent of Police Kumar Chinta, Assistant Superintendent of Police and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Robin Bansal, Pandharkawda Police Station in charge Lahu Taware, along with forensic and dog squads, visited the crime scene and launched an investigation.Police are examining CCTV footage, forensic evidence and surveillance footage from nearby locations to identify and trace the accused.Based on Verma’s complaint, Pandharkawda Police have registered a case against four unidentified persons under Sections 305, 303(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway.
