Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested Kommuri Malla Reddy, district prohibition and excise officer of Nizamabad, after conducting simultaneous searches at 11 locations and uncovering assets, valued at nearly Rs 20 crore, allegedly disproportionate to his known sources of income.Acting on credible information that Malla Reddy had amassed wealth through corrupt practices, the ACB registered a case against him on Monday under Sections 13(1)(b) read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Eleven special teams subsequently carried out raids at his residence in Bolarum and at properties linked to his relatives, benamis and associates.During the searches, investigators identified a G+2 house and a flat in Macha Bolarum, a house in Maddur of Siddipet district, commercial and residential properties in Uppal, eight plots on the outskirts of Hyderabad, and 10.23 acres of agricultural land near Maddur.The ACB also seized Rs 3.31 lakh in cash, bank deposits worth Rs 50 lakh, a Grand Vitara car and a Scooty. According to officials, the value of assets detected during the searches is estimated at around Rs 3 crore. “The market value of the immovable properties is expected to be significantly higher, at approximately Rs 20 crore,” an ACB official said.Investigators further identified three bank lockers held in the names of Malla Reddy’s wife and other family members. The lockers will be opened after completion of the required legal formalities. Verification of additional assets is also underway.The arrested officer will be produced before the II additional special judge for trial of SPE and ACB cases court in Nampally for judicial remand.The ACB has appealed to citizens to report any demand for bribes by public servants through its toll-free helpline 1064, WhatsApp number 9440446106, or its social media platforms. The agency assured that the identities of complainants will be kept confidential.
