Hyderabad: In a significant development, the Centre has approved the repatriation of senior IAS officer Sanjay Jaju to Telangana. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has cleared his repatriation. Jaju is currently serving as secretary in the ministry of development of North Eastern region.A 1992-batch IAS officer of the Telangana cadre, Jaju is considered a strong contender for the post of chief secretary, as the tenure of incumbent chief secretary K Ramakrishna Rao is set to end this month.If Ramakrishna Rao does not get another extension, the frontrunners for the top post are 1992-batch officers Sanjay Jaju, Jayesh Ranjan and Vikas Raj.Among other senior officers, 1990-batch IAS officer Shashank Goel is due to retire in Sept, while 1991-batch IAS officer Arvind Kumar is scheduled to retire in Oct this year. Arvind is also facing cahrges in the Formula E race case. Jaju has been on central deputation for the past few years. During this period, he served as secretary in the ministry of information and broadcasting before being moved to the ministry of development of North Eastern region.In his earlier postings in undivided Andhra Pradesh, Jaju served as commissioner of the erstwhile Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH), secretary in the IT department, and also worked for some time at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi.
