ECLGS was introduced in June amid the West Asia crisis

Kolkata: As of July 16, a sum of Rs 11,272 crore has been sanctioned for different businesses under Centre’s Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS).ECLGS was introduced amid the West Asia crisis to provide a 100% credit guarantee scheme for MSMEs and 90% for non-MSME sectors, including airlines.As many as 32,000 in Bengal have benefited from the scheme, said Vijayraj Bhosale, head IT, National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company, that has been running the scheme. Bhosale was in Kolkata to attend an ECLGS workshop organised by State Level Bankers Committee, West Bengal.Across India, Rs 1.8 lakh crore has been sanctioned, said Bhosale. Of this, Rs 5,000 crore was sanctioned to borrowers from the airlines industry. One business, he said, approached for a Rs 1,000-crore credit line under the scheme. The scheme was introduced in June amid rising fuel and logistics costs, supply chain disruption and liquidity pressure on airlines. The maximum loan amount was Rs 100 crore for MSMEs, while for airlines it was Rs 1,500 crore.At the event, SLBC GM Balbir Singh pointed out that the state’s hospitality businesses were facing a lot of stress due to higher LPG and travelling costs.
