Sanjay Sahay| TNNRanchi: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has rescued two females at Ranchi and Lohardaga railway stations under the Ranchi rail division in the last 48 hours. On Saturday, RPF informed that a 16-year-old girl, Mamta Kumari, a resident of Manika police station in Latehar district, attempted to die by suicide after jumping from the moving Chopan-Ranchi Express on the platform at Lohardaga station last Thursday. The RPF personnel present on the spot rushed to her rescue, administered first aid and sent her to the district hospital for better treatment.According to RPF, the girl fled from home on Wednesday after getting scolded by her school headmaster and parents. After spending the night at Daltonganj railway station’s waiting room, she reached Lohardaga the next day. Kumari told RPF that she intended to end her life under stress and disappointment. The girl was handed over to her parents after due process, RPF said on Saturday.In another incident, RPF saved a woman from coming under a moving train at the Ranchi railway station on Friday. The RPF informed that the Islampur-Hatia Express was slowly moving out of the station when she tried to board it. She, however, slipped and a portion of her body went in the gap between the train and the platform. Constable Rupesh Kumar Gupta, who was keeping a watch nearby, got hold of the woman within seconds and pulled her out.RPF said the woman could not be identified as she went out of the station while its team on the spot was busy in crowd management.
