Bathinda: In a push to upgrade cancer care in Punjab, chief minister Bhagwant Mann has underscored the urgency of modernising treatment methods by including robotic surgery. During a visit to Advanced Cancer Institute at Bathinda on Saturday, Mann stated necessary steps will be taken for introducing robotic surgery in the institute at the earliest to advance cancer treatment.Mann, while ordering a comprehensive overhaul of infrastructure, technology and manpower, stated that the institute currently faces a shortage of personnel and prompt action will be undertaken to overcome this problem without any compromise in treatment standards.These measures are needed to significantly enhance patient care across the state, stated Mann while reviewing the functioning of the institute and interaction with stakeholders to assess ground realities and identify areas requiring immediate attention.Bhagwant Mann announced that several need-based facilities will be introduced in the institute as concerted efforts will be made to further ensure the well-being of patients by introducing need-based facilities.Mann said the Ayushman card holders and beneficiaries of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna are entitled to treatment in this cancer care institute.Pic: CM Bhagwant Mann at Advanced Cancer Institute
