Gurgaon: Residents of Sector 57 have approached Haryana Human Rights Commission over the alleged lack of regular sweeping and cleaning of internal roads. They said basic sanitation has remained neglected for nearly two years despite repeated complaints to MCG.Residents said regular sweeping of the internal roads stopped after MCG handed over sanitation work to a private agency in Dec 2024. They alleged that only a handful of workers are now deployed, mainly around the market, leaving most internal roads without regular cleaning.“Since Nov 2024, there has been no regular sanitation work on the internal roads of our sector. Four to five workers come to clean the market area, but the sector itself is not being cleaned. They collect the market waste and dump it near our water boosting station. The sector is very large and needs adequate manpower. If there were 63 workers earlier, how can four workers cover the entire sector?” said the RWA president, Roshan Lal Yadav.Yadav said residents had repeatedly raised the issue with officials, but nothing improved. He said a sanitation inspector had visited the area but could not provide a clear response. Residents also raised the issue through the CM Window portal and wrote to senior officials, but the complaint remains pending. “While MCG is paying in lakhs to the agency, there is no cleaning work being carried out on the ground,” Yadav said, adding that the matter warrants financial scrutiny. The residents have now sought the commission’s intervention, saying the prolonged lack of sanitation is affecting their health, safety, dignity and quality of life.RWA general secretary Jaipal Kaushik said, “Internal roads need to be swept regularly, but there is no visible system in place. MCG needs to ensure adequate manpower and that the contractor actually carries out the work.”Meanwhile, MCG joint commissioner Ravindra Malik could not be reached for comment.
