Gurgaon: Two cars collided near the Subhash Chowk exit on Sohna Road elevated highway late Saturday night, leaving two people injured. The impact overturned one of the vehicles, which was dragged along the road for some distance, while the front portion of the other car, a Maruti Ritz, was badly damaged.The injured were taken to a nearby private hospital, where they received treatment. They were stated to be out of danger.According to eyewitnesses, both vehicles were travelling at high speed when they collided near the exit.“Other motorists who stopped after seeing the crash helped pull people out of the overturned car. The identities of the car owners and injured were not immediately known,” police said.Police and an ambulance reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident. An officer said the airbags in both vehicles deployed during the collision, helping prevent more serious injuries.The crash also disrupted traffic on the elevated road for some time, with the damaged vehicles and debris blocking part of the carriageway.“We called a crane to remove the overturned car and shifted both vehicles to the side of the road, following which traffic movement returned to normal,” the officer added.No complaint has been filed by either side so far, police said.Police are trying to identify the vehicle owners and establish the circumstances leading to the collision. CCTV footage from cameras installed along the elevated highway will be examined to determine whether overspeeding or negligence by either driver caused the crash.
