Hazaribag: Road repair and development works in the city will gain momentum after the monsoon, and the condition of roads and lanes will improve significantly by Nov, Hazaribag Municipal Corporation (HMC) mayor Arvind Kumar Rana said on Saturday amid growing concerns over potholes, waterlogging and civic upkeep.Speaking to TOI, Rana said the civic body’s primary responsibility is maintaining lanes and drains and that the tendering process for nearly 15 km of roads has already been completed. However, continuous rain has delayed durable bitumen and cement work.“Road repair would be expedited after the rains,” he said, adding that heavy rainfall and the movement of heavy vehicles at night had caused road blocks to sink at several locations.On garbage management, Rana said 72 vehicles were engaged in door-to-door waste collection across the corporation’s 36 wards, while around 70,000 dustbins had been distributed among households.An agency has been hired to make the waste management system more effective and transparent. The corporation is also planning to launch a call centre that will allow residents to register complaints and track action taken on them.Rana said the corporation has proposed several projects around the historic Hazaribag lake area, with a target to complete them by 2027. The plans include development of fabric blocks and other basic infrastructure along the lake, a bird park, butterfly park, a floating recreational zone for children and a multipurpose cultural building. Work is also underway to install CCTV cameras at key locations and develop a food park.
