Ranchi: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Tuesday directed advertising agencies to remove or relocate hoardings and advertisement boards installed less than 12 feet above the road surface. The order applies particularly to advertisements obstructing pavements and pathways or blocking streetlights and electricity poles on road dividers. The directive follows an Aug 19 order of the Jharkhand highcCourt. The civic body has given agencies seven days to inspect all hoardings and advertisement boards installed by them and rectify any violations.Agencies must submit compliance reports to RMC’s market branch within the deadline. The corporation warned that hoardings and advertising material would be removed and seized if agencies failed to comply. The action is intended to keep pedestrian spaces free of obstructions and improve road safety, as encroachments often force pedestrians onto busy carriageways.
