Ranchi: Newly appointed officiating director of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims), Dr D K Sinha, on Saturday said that they will now carry out physical verification of caste and residential certificates of students during admissions to prevent aspirants from allegedly submitting fake documents.Speaking to media persons on the Rims premises, he said, “We used to carry out online verification of certificates during admission, but in several cases the data on the site turned out to be fake. In future, the Rims administration will send each certificate to the authorities concerned for verification and report.”The announcement follows recent cases of students allegedly taking admission on the basis of fake certificates under the reserved category in Rims and the subsequent searches by CID officers, according to Sinha.Asked about the alleged irregularities in tender process, which is also being probed by the CID, he expressed inability to provide information, saying it was not related to his office. He said that the Rims management has decided to provide all small medical equipment like syringe and cotton to patients for free as a majority of them are from poor families. He said that during his visit to the emergency wards, he found shortage of beds, adding that steps would be taken to address the issue. He said that three deputy medical superintendents will be assigned duties on rotation so that at least one of them was present round-the-clock.On attendance of Rims doctors, he said that they should be in the hospital from 9 am to 5 pm, barring exigencies. He added that in case any doctor was arriving late regularly, the management will take action.
