Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday launched ‘Toli Mudda’, a breakfast scheme for children at Anganwadi centres across the state, stressing that food security alone is not enough and that nutritious food is essential for children’s growth.Launching the scheme on the assembly premises, he said the Congress govt is according top priority to providing nutritious food to children. “The lack of nutritious food is a cause of big concern and health ailments among children is a big worrying factor. The mental health development among children under the age of six is important to grow strong. For this, the govt launched the breakfast scheme to improve the health conditions of the children from their childhood,” he said. Stating that nutritious food is also being provided to mothers from the day of conception at anganwadi centres, Revanth recalled that India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had prioritised education and irrigation to tackle illiteracy and strengthen agriculture. The chief minister assured that the govt would address all pending issues of Anganwadi staff and urged them to implement the scheme in its true spirit. He asked workers to care for children as they would for their own family members.He also directed officials to prepare plans for constructing permanent buildings for Anganwadi centres and to phase out operations from private premises.
