Srinagar, Jul 30: Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Thursday said that the committee constituted to frame a transfer policy for Rehbar e Taleem, ReT, teachers has almost completed its work and its report is in the final stage, raising hopes for thousands of teachers awaiting a transfer policy.
Speaking to reporters in Ganderbal, Itoo said the demand for a transfer policy for ReT teachers was genuine and the government was aware of the difficulties being faced by many of them.
She said the committee had examined the issue in detail and the report was now in the final stage. “This is a genuine demand. We are considering genuine cases, including inter district transfers due to marriage and health issues,” she said, adding that the government was committed to addressing such cases on humanitarian grounds.
On legal matters, the minister said the J&K government has already approached the Supreme Court by filing a fresh petition and is pursuing the matter through the legal process.
Responding to a question on the alleged pacemaker scam at Government Medical College, GMC, she said an inquiry had already been ordered into the matter. She said appropriate action would be taken after the final inquiry report is submitted.
Itoo also addressed concerns over delays in the Ladli Beti Scheme and clarified that the scheme is active in eight districts of J&K. She said the scheme is being implemented through an online system, where applications are submitted online and sanctions are also processed online without unnecessary delays. She said the government is ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits under the scheme in a transparent manner.
