Srinagar, July 30: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting of key stakeholder departments to review the alignment and implementation of major road infrastructure projects, including the proposed Parimpora–Dalgate Flyover, Panthachowk Flyover, and the Panthachowk–Pandach stretch of the Srinagar Ring Road.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from various departments, including the Chief Conservator of Forests, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Vice Chairman Srinagar Development Authority, Director Airport Authority, Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Srinagar, Chief Engineers of KPDCL and Irrigation & Flood Control, besides officials from the Roads & Buildings Department, RTO, UEED, LCMA, Air Force, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), BSF, and other stakeholder agencies.
A detailed discussion was held on the proposed Parimpora–Dalgate Flyover, focusing on its alignment, estimated project cost, impact on traffic movement, and implications for existing urban utilities. The meeting decided to constitute a committee comprising representatives of stakeholder departments to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the project’s impact and submit its recommendations.
The meeting also reviewed the construction of the two components of the Panthachowk–Pandrethan Flyover and decided to proceed with the execution of the project.
Regarding the Panthachowk–Pandach section of the Srinagar Ring Road, the Divisional Commissioner directed that a fresh study of the proposed alignments be undertaken to minimise the impact on residential areas. Officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) were asked to conduct a comparative evaluation of the suggested alignments and recommend the most suitable option.
The proposed road connecting Ring Road Part-I via Sheikhpora to Airport Road also came up for discussion. The meeting examined its likely impact on adjoining BSF security establishments. The Divisional Commissioner directed officers of the Air Force and BSF to hold joint consultations with the executing agency to identify a feasible solution that addresses the concerns of all stakeholder departments while ensuring timely implementation of the project.
