Pune: Narhe police on Friday night arrested a reporter from Narhe for his alleged role in an attempt to rob cash worth Rs 1 crore.Simultaneously, the police have initiated a probe against police constables posted at the Rajgad police station. They have already arrested Vikram Vilas Chakankar (44) of Dhayari, Amey Arvind Karle (46) of Manikbaug, and Ganesh Ramesh Kadam (33) of Dhayari in connection with the case.Inspector Varsha Deshmukh said, “We have arrested the reporter, Ashish Tiwari (39) of Manikbaug on Sinhagad Road. On Saturday, we produced Tiwari before a city court, which remanded him in police custody till Monday. He was present at the police outpost on the Pune-Satara Highway, where he took Rs 20 lakh out of the total Rs 1 crore kept at the outpost and placed the cash in his vehicle.

We are yet to recover the vehicle.”A stationery businessman from Talegaon Dabhade lodged a complaint on July 19 against the three persons arrested earlier, alleging that they had attempted to rob him of Rs 1 crore near Navale Bridge after posing as police personnel. The accused then took him to a police outpost on the Pune-Satara highway and took possession of the cash. However, due to certain developments, the police personnel at the outpost decided to return the cash to him.
