Prayagraj: After nearing completion of the remodeling of Prayagraj Junction from the Civil Lines side, the focus will now shift to the city side, where extensive construction work is scheduled to commence on April 15. This next phase forms part of the railway administration’s ambitious plan to modernise one of the busiest stations in the Sangam city. The redevelopment includes demolition of some of the major structures at the city side area of the Junction which will significantly impact passenger movement. To ensure passenger safety and minimise disruptions, authorities are carefully planning putting up barricading which will guide the passengers for entry and exit towards different platforms from the city side, mainly platform number 1. “The tentative entry will be from gate number 6 (near the parcel office), while the exit will be the present exit gate. Additionally, the ticketing system will be shifted to the large holding areas,” said public relation officer, Prayagraj division, Amit Kumar Singh. The city-side parking will be completely restricted during this period. In response, the railway administration has developed alternative parking arrangements on the Civil Lines side to facilitate smooth access to the station. However, after a few weeks, railways may open limited parking facilities but the same will be minimal.A dedicated team of staff will be deployed at key entry and exit points to assist passengers, while digital information systems will remain fully active to provide real-time guidance to the passengers including putting several signages.Railway authorities have assured that passenger convenience is a priority and that all efforts will be made to keep travel smooth. The city-side redevelopment phase is expected to bring modern facilities, improved circulation areas and better infrastructure, ultimately enhancing the overall travel experience for commuters at Prayagraj Junction.“Passengers are advised to follow instructions and make use of alternative arrangements to navigate the station efficiently during the construction period,” added Singh.
