Guwahati: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, concluding her two-day visit to Assam on Friday, criticised CM Himanta Biswa Sarma for dragging the family and children of state PCC president Gaurav Gogoi into the allegations of his Pakistan links, calling it “wrong politics.” She urged the CM to focus on jobs and development instead.“There are two types of leaders in politics — one who does positive politics and the other who indulges in polarisation. Gaurav is doing the politics of love,” she said when asked about Sarma’s repeated attacks on Gaurav over his alleged Pakistan links.

Vadra claimed that attacks on Gaurav’s family were baseless and demeaning. “Nobody’s family or children should be attacked like this. Especially when everything is false,” she added.“I will say that Gaurav is moving on the right track. That is why such a demeaning attack is taking place,” Vadra said. She added that the people of Assam know that Gaurav is being attacked because the ruling party is afraid of him.Vadra said instead of indulging in such politics, Assam CM should speak about the state’s development. “Let him speak about what he has done for the people. Let him speak about what he plans to do in the next five years. Today’s youth wants to know this,” she added.Vadra visited Zubeen’s cremation ground in Sonapur. During her trip, she also chaired meetings to finalise Congress candidates for the upcoming assembly polls.
