Guwahati: Eateries across the city have introduced time-limited Ramzan platters at affordable prices, drawing food lovers and fasting residents to experience the tradition during the holy month.With Ramzan underway, restaurants and roadside food joints from Fancy Bazar and Panbazar to Panjabari and Hatigaon have rolled out exclusive menus featuring popular Ramzan delicacies. The special platters, priced between Rs 200 and Rs 300, are aimed at offering substantial meals without adding financial strain.

Several outlets have extended operating hours to cater to people observing the fast, with combo meals designed for those breaking their fast on the go. “The idea is to ensure that no one misses out on a hearty iftar. We have kept our margins low and focused on serving quality food,” said Sarfaraz Haque, a restaurant proprietor in the city’s Ambari area.Haque said his restaurant has introduced a biryani combo platter that includes an additional piece of chicken, egg, potato, raita, salad, fruits, dry fruits, gulab jamun, a cold drink, a pack of juice and mineral water for Rs 250.In Ulubari, another restaurant has launched a special combo priced at Rs 230, offering items such as halwa, biryani, chana and pakoda, among others. Abdul Mosaddik, who manages the restaurant, said, “We have been providing complimentary platters to those breaking their first fast (pehla roza), reflecting Ramzan’s values of kindness and unity.”Food stalls have also come up near mosques to make it easier for people to access meals after evening prayers. In Machkhowa, one such establishment, Madina Sweet House, a Lucknow-based eatery, sets up a pop-up stall in the city during Ramzan and offers items including Mughlai paratha, chicken biryani, halwa and kheer. Vendors said customers gather at the stalls for traditional flavours and carefully prepared dishes.
