Chandigarh: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday claimed that his govt provided a “record” 65,264 govt jobs in just four years, the highest ever in Punjab’s history, while extending a 5-year age relaxation to compensate for the lost opportunities caused by previous regimes.Addressing a press conference, Mann said the rapid expansion of Digital Punjab, with 30 lakh monthly footfall at Sewa Kendras and more than 8.2 crore services delivered, underscores a broader push towards transparent governance, skill development and systemic reform aimed at reshaping Punjab’s future. Presenting the report card of various depts, Mann said for the first time in Punjab’s history, 65,264 govt jobs have been provided within four years, adding, “In education dept, 6,308 jobs have been given; 12,966 in Punjab Police, 8,765 in power dept; 6,320 in health & family welfare and medical education; 5,771 in local govt department and others.” He said, “This has checked the brain drain from the state, and youth from every village, town and city in Punjab have benefited by getting jobs.”
