CBSE Class 10 Second Board Result 2026: Pass percentage at 96.78%

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Saturday declared the results of the Class 10 Second Board Examination 2026, marking the first implementation of the dual-board examination system introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The second board examination was introduced to provide students with an additional opportunity to improve their performance within the same academic year. CBSE said that for regular students, the better of the two performances in the Main Board Examination and the Second Board Examination will be considered while preparing the final result.

According to the board, 6,64,027 students registered for the second board examination, of whom 6,63,777 appeared.

Among the candidates, 5,13,955 appeared under the improvement category. Of these, 3,08,095 students, or 59.95%, improved their performance compared to the main board examination.

The second examination also offered another chance to students placed in the compartment category. Out of 1,49,822 compartment candidates who appeared, 78,503 cleared the examination, taking the pass percentage in this category to 52.40%, an improvement over 48.68% recorded in 2025.

Following the declaration of the second board results, the overall Class 10 pass percentage for 2026 stands at 96.78%, after combining the results of the main and second board examinations.

CBSE conducted the Main Board Examination from February 17 to March 11, 2026, followed by the Second Board Examination from May 15 to May 21, 2026, in line with the recommendations of NEP 2020 to reduce the high-stakes nature of a single annual examination.

Students can access their results through the DigiLocker Results Portal. Schools will receive school-wise results through their registered email addresses, while digital academic documents will be available through the DigiLocker repository. Printed marksheets-cum-passing certificates for regular students will be distributed through their respective schools.

CBSE said details regarding post-result services, including verification and related facilities, will be notified separately through an official circular. The board also advised students and parents to rely only on official CBSE communication channels for authentic information regarding the result process.
