Budgam, Sep 26: Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather on Saturday inaugurated development works on 2.4-km inner link roads at Tangnar Sheikhpura in Chadoora, executed at an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakh.
The newly developed roads are aimed at improving local connectivity and easing movement for residents, students, farmers and other commuters.
Speaking on the occasion, Rather stressed the need to strengthen basic infrastructure and road connectivity in rural areas, saying better roads improve access to education, healthcare, markets and other essential services.
He directed the executing agencies to complete development works within stipulated timelines and maintain prescribed quality standards. He also called for proper maintenance of the infrastructure after completion.
Later, Rather laid the foundation stone for a bridge connecting Dharamsala Khampora Saria with Wanpora.
The proposed bridge is expected to improve connectivity between the two villages and ease the movement of local residents. Rather said the project would address a long-standing connectivity requirement of the area.
Local residents and representatives welcomed the road and bridge projects, saying improved connectivity would facilitate movement between the adjoining villages.
Rather reiterated his commitment to strengthening basic infrastructure and taking up development works based on the requirements of the local population.
