Surat: A meeting was held on Saturday between the Federation of Surat Trade and Textile Associations (FOSTTA) Forum and the South Gujarat Textile Processors Association (SGTPA) to discuss the recent 15% rate hike implemented by textile processors.During the meeting, FOSTTA presented complaints, suggestions and concerns received from the trading community regarding the increased processing rates. Detailed discussions were held on the current market situation and the need to maintain coordination among all components of the textile trade, while protecting the interests of traders. Both sides deliberated on achieving an early resolution through mutual understanding and balanced decision-making.SGTPA officials informed the FOSTTA teams that a special meeting of SGTPA members will be called to discuss the points. The association said it will review all points in detail and, based on proper information, continue talks with FOSTTA to build consensus between the two organisations.Recently, SGTPA increased textile processing rates due to rising fuel and other costs. SGTPA members claimed that due to international factors, the cost of production is increasing, forcing them to increase the prices.FOSTTA and its member associations are opposing the processing rate hike at a time when the business is good. Textile traders claimed that every year textile processors increase prices more than once.Representing FOSTTA were president Hansraj Jain, general secretary Dinesh Kataria and others, while SGTPA was represented by President Jitendra Vakhariya and Kamalvijay Tulsiyan.
