Rajkot: A dispute triggered by alleged repeated staring between two groups of motorcyclists turned fatal on Thursday afternoon when a 40-year-old man was beaten to death on the Zalansar-Dhoraji road. Junagadh district police arrested two 21-year-old men from Dhoraji late Thursday night in connection with the murder.The victim, Jayesh Vinjhuda, a Dhoraji resident, was riding pillion with his cousin Raj Vinjhuda, 23. According to the FIR, the two had left Dhoraji around 11.30am to take clothes to Junagadh Civil Hospital, where Raj’s younger brother, who suffers from thalassemia, was admitted along with their father.Between 12.15pm and 12.30pm, as the cousins crossed Toraniya Patiya and neared Zalansar village, two youths riding another motorcycle allegedly intercepted them. The youths objected to Jayesh and Raj allegedly staring at them repeatedly, leading to an argument that soon turned violent.The accused allegedly abused the cousins, punched and kicked them and then picked up plastic fencing pipes from the boundary of a nearby field. They allegedly assaulted the two repeatedly, causing severe head and other injuries to Jayesh, before fleeing towards Junagadh.Passersby alerted an ambulance, which rushed Jayesh to the government hospital in Dhoraji. However, the medical officer declared him brought dead.Junagadh Taluka Police registered a case under Sections 103(1), 126(2), 296(b) and 54 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Section 135 of the Gujarat Police Act.Investigators used local intelligence and analysed CCTV footage from the area to trace the suspects to their residences at Mahatma Gandhi Vas behind the post office in Dhoraji. Police subsequently detained Parth Jethwa, 21, and Bhumik Rathod, 21.During questioning, the two allegedly told police that an argument over motorcycle manoeuvring escalated into a physical fight, after which they fled when Jayesh collapsed.
