Rani Mukerji‘s mother Krishna Mukerji, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 75. Yash Raj Films confirmed Krishna Mukerji’s demise in a statement, which read, “With heavy hearts, we share that Rani Mukerji’s mother Mrs Krishna Mukerji, 75, passed away this afternoon. The family is deeply grateful for your love, prayers, and support, and respectfully requests privacy during this time of immense grief.”The funeral took place at Tuesday evening and many of Rani’s friends from the industry were seen attending the funeral. Shah Rukh Khan along with his manager Pooja Dadlani was arriving at the cremation ground to pay his final respects.Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Karan Johar, Anil Kapoor among many others were spotted.
Rani has often credited her mother for encouraging her to pursue acting. In several interviews, the actress has recalled how Krishna suggested that she try acting as an experiment when she was 18. That decision eventually led Rani to make her Bollywood debut with ‘Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat’ in 1997.Rani was last seen on the big screen in ‘Mardaani 3’, which released earlier this year and received a positive response at the box office. The actress will next be seen in ‘King’, which stars Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. The film is scheduled to release on December 24, 2026.
