Construction at his office in Hatia will begin after monsoon, DRM Karuna Nidhi Singh said

Ranchi: The Ranchi railway division has begun groundwork to set up a Unified Command and Control Centre (UCCC) to strengthen train safety, streamline operations and improve emergency response across its 55 stations.“The centre, estimated to cost Rs 15 crore, is likely to become operational within 18 months,” divisional railway manager (DRM) Karuna Nidhi Singh told TOI on Tuesday. The centre will enable round-the-clock monitoring of train movements and improve coordination among railway departments. It will also facilitate faster decision-making, efficient resource management and coordinated action during accidents, natural disasters and other emergencies.“The centre will be equipped with advanced technology and display live train locations, speed, punctuality, signalling status, power supply and other critical operational parameters on a large video wall and digital screens. This will help officials quickly identify technical failures, operational issues or abnormalities in train movements and take prompt action,” Singh said.CCTV feeds from all 55 stations under the division will be monitored at the facility, strengthening passenger safety and station security. The centre will also track passenger complaints received through railway apps and social media platforms. “The UCCC will continuously monitor such grievances and facilitate their redressal,” Singh said.During accidents and other emergencies, the centre will function as the division’s central command facility, enabling swift coordination among departments so rescue and relief operations can begin quickly and services can be restored at the earliest. The facility will also help disseminate information about train delays, diversions and other operational changes through station displays and passenger information systems, allowing passengers to receive timely updates. The integrated system is expected to reduce response time, minimise communication gaps and ensure that field teams receive accurate information while dealing with disruptions or emergencies across the division.“Construction at the DRM office in Hatia will begin after the monsoon and is expected to be completed within one-and-a-half years,” Singh said.
