Ranchi: The Ranchi district legal services authority (DLSA) team on Friday met the deaf and mute rape survivor and her family members on the outskirts of the city and took steps to ensure the family was provided compensation and access to govt welfare schemes.The team visited the family on directives of Justice S N Prasad of Jharkhand high court. “Applications were taken from the survivor and family members for govt benefits. The process for providing free legal aid to the girl was also completed. The girl, a class 9 student, expressed her desire to study. Steps would be initiated to get her admitted to a residential govt school,” DLSA secretary Rakesh Roushan said.The girl was raped on Mar 2 when she was out grazing cattle. The accused has been arrested and sent to jail.
