Nagpur: The sessions court on Thursday issued summons to Dr AP Narad of Mayo Hospital, Nagpur, who conducted autopsy on Mond Hussain Mustafa in the Ram Jhula hit-and-run case allegedly involving Ritika alias Ritu Dinesh Maloo and others. The matter was listed for evidence before Additional Sessions Judge Brahmanand M Dhanure.Additional public prosecutor Rashmi Khaparde appeared for the prosecution and pressed an application seeking direction to Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL), Nagpur, to place the chemical analysis reports and the CCTV footage report on record. She told the court that the RFSL reports were still awaited. The judge allowed the application. He directed RFSL office and the officer concerned to furnish the chemical analysis and CCTV footage reports as early as possible, and in any case on or before Nov 1, 2026.The accident had occurred on Feb 25, 2024, when a Mercedes car allegedly driven by Ritika Maloo rammed a two-wheeler, killing Mohd Atif and Mohd Hussain Mustafa. The court noted that a trial cannot be held up only because forensic reports are pending. At the same time, it said the reports must come on record so that the hearing can move smoothly and the defence also has the material. The order records that CID officials had already asked RFSL for the reports, but the laboratory had not responded.During the hearing, the defence argued that the entire bill book, and not only the voucher in the name of Ritika Maloo, should be produced. The voucher relates to payment of bills for liquor she had consumed with a friend. Khaparde submitted that this can be done when the witness connected with that voucher is examined. The court said the full bill book, along with the voucher, can be brought at that stage for proper assessment of the evidence. The next date for the trial is scheduled for Oct 17.
