Dhanbad: An awareness programme was organised at Dhanbad Sadar hospital on World TB Day on Tuesday, aimed at spreading awareness about the prevention and treatment of the disease. Health sahiyas and workers took out a rally, where participants shouted slogans such as “TB Harega, Desh Jeetega” and “Let’s Make Dhanbad TB-Free”.Civil surgeon Alok Vishwakarma said such initiatives help raise awareness and motivate patients to seek timely diagnosis and treatment. He stated that tuberculosis can be cured with proper medical care and adherence to treatment protocols. He further said that the govt provides free medicines to TB patients, and the treatment usually continues for up to two years. In addition, NGOs are also extending support by ensuring the availability of essential medicines, particularly those not easily available in the market.He urged people experiencing symptoms such as persistent cough for more than three weeks, sudden weight loss and loss of appetite to undergo immediate medical examination to ensure timely treatment.
