Prayagraj: Aspirants seeking admission to PhD programmes at Prof Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University will now get two opportunities every year, with the university preparing to introduce a rolling admission system for research programmes.
Under the proposed system, PhD admissions will be conducted twice in an academic session — in July and Jan.
Vice-chancellor Prof Akhilesh Kumar Singh said the two admission cycles would give candidates greater flexibility and reduce the wait for those who miss or cannot secure a seat in one admission round.
Under the system, the university will advertise available seats at regular intervals. If all seats are not filled during one round, the vacant seats can be offered in the subsequent admission cycle.
The university is preparing to offer PhD programmes in 24 subjects through its main campus and research centres. It has also established research centres at eight govt and aided colleges in the region. The move will allow students to benefit from the specialised faculty, laboratories and other research facilities available at affiliated colleges, besides those at the university campus.
Meanwhile, the university has begun the online process for colleges seeking fresh affiliation or permission to introduce additional subjects or courses from the 2027-28 academic session.
The higher education department has issued a schedule for the process. Applications for new subjects and courses, except for BEd, can be submitted online by Oct 31.
According to the schedule issued by registrar Prof Vinita Yadav, land-related documents of applicant colleges will be verified by the revenue department. The no-objection order is to be issued online by Jan 20, 2027. Colleges can appeal against the university’s decision before govt by Jan 30, with such appeals to be disposed of by Feb 20.
An inspection panel will be constituted by Mar 5 and will have to submit its report by April 5. The university is required to grant affiliation by April 20. A further appeal before govt can be filed by April 30 and will be disposed of by May 20.
