Vadodara: Akota police arrested a Rajasthan resident for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl and demanding a ransom of Rs 1 lakh for her safe return from her family. The accused, Salim alias Syed Sailab, a resident of Ajmer, was traced through technical surveillance and arrested on Saturday evening.According to police, the accused allegedly followed the complainant’s minor daughter to a relative’s house before kidnapping her on June 12.During the investigation, police found that the accused had allegedly made WhatsApp calls to the girl’s family, demanding Rs 1 lakh in exchange for her safe release. Acting on technical leads, investigators identified the mobile number used by the suspect, tracked his movements, and arrested him.Akota police have registered a case under the relevant provisions of the BNS, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, and the Juvenile Justice Act.
