Gurgaon: India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a heavy rain warning for the city.Forecasting an active spell of monsoon rain over the city and much of Haryana over the next four days, IMD said rainfall activity is likely to intensify from Tuesday, with widespread showers forecast across the state till Aug 6.Residents have been advised to stay alert for brief spells of heavy rain, especially in low-lying and waterlogging-prone areas. “Plan travel with extra time as intense showers may slow traffic and reduce visibility. Avoid crossing waterlogged roads or underpasses during heavy downpours and secure loose outdoor objects and exercise caution during thunderstorms and lightning,” IMD said on Monday.Meanwhile, the city’s maximum temperature stood at 33.5 degrees Celsius while minimum temperature settled at 23 degrees Celsius on Monday morning, the lowest recorded in Haryana. Across the state, Hisar recorded the highest maximum temperature at 36.5 degrees Celsius. The previous day’s maximum temperature in the city was 34.1 degrees Celsius, while the minimum stood at 27.4 degrees Celsius.The forecast indicates rain at many places on Tuesday. From Wednesday onwards, intermittent light to moderate rainfall is expected to continue, although no weather warning has been issued beyond Aug 4.Statewide, light to moderate rainfall is likely at many places between Aug 4 and 6, with heavy rain expected at isolated locations on Aug 3 and 4.IMD attributed the fresh spell to a cyclonic circulation over northeast Rajasthan and the monsoon trough passing through Delhi, along with an upper-air cyclonic circulation over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.These systems are expected to keep monsoon conditions favourable over Haryana during the week.Over the past 24 hours, light to moderate rain was recorded at isolated places in Haryana, while heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds occurred at isolated locations.The highest rainfall was recorded at Tajewala in Yamunanagar district (7 cm), followed by Hathnikund Barrage AWS (5 cm). Nagina in Nuh recorded 1 cm of rainfall.According to district administration, between 8am and 5pm on Monday, Sohna recorded the highest rainfall in Gurgaon district at 23 mm, followed by Gurgaon tehsil with 12 mm. Wazirabad received 3 mm, while Badshahpur recorded 1 mm. No rainfall was reported from Kadipur, Harsaru, Manesar, Pataudi and Farrukhnagar during the period.
