Kanpur: The city witnessed a dip in the mercury level and relief from sultry conditions following rains on Thursday.Around 42 mm rainfall was recorded in Kanpur Nagar in the past 24 hours on Thursday. The showers led to a drop in mercury level, bringing maximum temperature to 28.6 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature too dipped to 24.7 degrees Celsius.The CSA weather observatory also observed 92% maximum relative humidity; however, cloud cover and rains maintained pleasant conditions. According to weather expert S N Sunil Pandey, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds in the area over the next five days. There will be relief from humidity.The city in the morning received light drizzle around 8.30 am, followed by a cloudy sky on Thursday.Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the monsoon is fully active across the Kanpur division through the coming week; consequently, all areas will experience thunderstorms and heavy cloud cover. There is a 97% chance of intermittent rain and thundershowers throughout the day.According to BBC Weather, conditions involving continuous monsoon rain and thunderstorms are expected to persist for the next four to five days. The weather may clear up slightly starting Monday, with temperatures rising to 34°C.
