Gurgaon: Rain activity is likely to remain subdued in the city for the next three days, with the India Meteorological Department not forecasting rain in the district on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Rain is likely to remain confined mainly to parts of northern Haryana during this period.IMD has forecast light to moderate rain at isolated places in Panchkula, Ambala and Yamunanagar on Thursday and Friday. Gurgaon does not figure in the district-wise forecast for either day. On Saturday, rain is likely at isolated places in Chandigarh, Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and Karnal, again leaving Gurgaon out of the forecast.Rain chances are expected to return on Sunday. IMD has forecast light to moderate rain at isolated places in Gurgaon on Aug 30, along with Rewari, Jhajjar, Mewat, Palwal, Faridabad, Rohtak, Sonipat, Panipat and Jind. Light to moderate rain is also likely at isolated places over Haryana on Aug 31 and Sept 1.The forecast comes after the city saw uneven rainfall on Wednesday. Sohna recorded 70mm in the 24 hours ending at 8.30am, while Gurgaon and Manesar revenue stations recorded 10mm each. However, Gurgaon KVK recorded no rain and NorthCap University recorded 2mm during the same period.Despite the variation in rainfall, Gurgaon has received slightly more than its normal seasonal rainfall overall. The latest IMD assessment shows 403.2mm of rainfall in Gurgaon between June 1 and Aug 26, which is 6% above normal. An earlier IMD assessment for Aug 23 had shown cumulative rainfall at 363.7mm, 14% below normal.Meanwhile, Gurgaon KVK recorded a minimum temperature of 26.2°C on Wednesday morning. IMD said the average minimum temperature in Haryana rose by 0.1°C compared with the previous day and remained close to normal.The prevailing weather conditions are linked to the monsoon trough and a western disturbance. IMD said a cyclonic circulation associated with the western disturbance was present over north Haryana and adjoining areas.No weather warning has been issued for Haryana during the forecast period. IMD also reported no thunderstorm, hailstorm, heatwave or severe hot-day conditions during the latest 24-hour observation period.
