A waterlogged Khetan Market in Patna on Saturday

Patna: More than 45mm of rain lashed Patna in the 24 hours till Saturday morning, leaving several low-lying areas waterlogged and slowing traffic across the city.Nehru Path, Rajiv Nagar, LNJP Hospital in Rajbanshi Nagar and parts of Patna City were among the worst-hit areas. Patients and visitors at LNJP Hospital had to wade through flooded premises, while rainwater also accumulated in Rajendra Nagar, Punaichak, Karbigahiya, Gandhi Maidan, Khajanchi Road, Ashok Rajpath and NMCH Road.According to the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC), most inundated stretches were cleared by the afternoon after an overnight drainage operation. However, pumping continued in some pockets where Metro construction, low road levels and the natural terrain slowed the flow of water.Urban development and housing department secretary-cum-Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation managing director Animesh Kumar Parashar and PMC commissioner Yashpal Meena inspected pumping stations and waterlogging-prone areas, including Saidpur, Yogipur, Ashok Nagar, Mandiri and Gosai Tola. They directed officials to keep all pumping stations running at full capacity.PMC deployed all 19 quick response teams overnight to clear drains and remove waste. Officials said waterlogging had been cleared from several roads and residential areas, including the Secretariat area, Kesari Nagar, RK Avenue Road, Patliputra Sports Complex, Marufganj and Gulzarbagh.According to Buidco, all 56 drainage pumping stations equipped with 255 electric and diesel pumps remained operational throughout the rainfall. Fogging and sanitation drives were launched after the water receded.
