Patna: RJD candidate Rekha Gupta on Friday dismissed her rivals in the Bankipur assembly bypoll, saying people in the constituency were backing her and her party.Speaking to reporters at the state RJD headquarters after a meeting of functionaries of the five-party Grand Alliance, Gupta said the alliance had discussed preparations and campaign strategy for the July 30 election.Asked whether Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor, who has launched an extensive door-to-door campaign, posed a challenge, Gupta said, “The challenge for us is winning the confidence and support of the people of the constituency, and they are rooting for me. We have been making a great headway.”She also played down the candidature of BJP nominee Neeraj Kumar Sinha, who replaced Abhishek Kumar ‘Bunty’.“In fact, the BJP has got itself into a trap. Earlier, they said that the people of Bankipur constituency will elect anyone, even a ‘cat or dog’ fielded by it, and now they have changed their candidate,” she said.Gupta added that RJD national working president Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, who is abroad on personal work, would campaign for her after his return.
