Kanpur: Rain brought a slight dip in temperatures on Sunday, but the city continued to reel under sultry conditions, with the feel temperature hovering around 39°C despite the mercury falling to 33°C. The city received around 15.4 mm of rain in the past 24 hours, bringing the maximum temperature down by 0.6°C from Saturday’s 33.6°C.Bright sunshine in the morning added to the discomfort before the weather turned around in the afternoon, with light drizzle reported in several parts of the city around 4 pm. North-westerly winds blew at around 7.4 kmph, offering some relief once the rain began.The CSA weather observatory recorded maximum and minimum relative humidity at 87% and 63%, respectively. CSA weather expert S N Sunil Pandey said cloud movement was likely to continue for the next three days, with localised thunderstorms, gusty winds and light rain or drizzle possible. He said intense humidity would persist whenever the sun came out.Meanwhile, Kanpur Nagar’s air quality index (AQI) stood at around 127, in the ‘unhealthy for sensitive groups’ category. Dust remained visible in the atmosphere, with PM2.5 and PM10 the main pollutants, recorded at 28.2 and 29.8, respectively. The health advisory urged sensitive groups, including children, senior citizens and those with respiratory conditions such as asthma, to reduce prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion.
