Patna: To ease the increasing rush of passengers on the Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur and Danapur-Bengaluru routes, the railways has decided to introduce two new trains, including an Amrit Bharat Express, aimed at improving connectivity and providing relief to travellers.East Central Railway (ECR) chief public relations officer Saraswati Chandra said the weekly Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur Amrit Bharat Express will begin operations on Aug 26 via the DDU-Patna-Kiul route. The train will depart from Ahmedabad every Wednesday at 6.30pm and reach Bhagalpur at 6.40am on Friday.On the return journey, it will leave Bhagalpur every Friday at 6.40pm and arrive in Ahmedabad at 5.25am on Sunday, he said.The Amrit Bharat Express will have 22 coaches, comprising 11 general coaches, eight sleeper coaches, two brake vans and one pantry car. The new service is expected to benefit passengers travelling between Gujarat, Bihar and neighbouring regions.In addition, the railways will introduce a daily Danapur-Bengaluru Express from Sept 1. The train will depart from Danapur at 2.45pm and reach Bengaluru at 2.30pm on the third day of its journey.Chandra said the return service will commence from Bengaluru on Sept 3. The train will leave at 11.50pm and arrive at Danapur at 12.15am on the third day.The Danapur-Bengaluru Express will have a 24-coach composition comprising two AC two-tier coaches, three AC three-tier coaches, 10 sleeper coaches, seven general coaches and two brake vans.“The introduction of these two new trains will benefit long-distance passengers and provide additional transport facilities on routes witnessing heavy passenger traffic,” the CPRO said.
