Patna: A man from Paliganj area of Patna district was arrested on Friday for allegedly sharing and buying and selling obscene and sexually exploitative videos and photographs involving minors and others through social media platforms. Two cellphones were seized from him.Police said the accused allegedly bought and sold pornographic videos through Telegram, receiving payments through UPI. He allegedly charged Rs 20 for each video.The action followed a complaint received by the cybercrime unit. The accused allegedly used Telegram and WhatsApp for the activity. Acting on technical inputs and evidence gathered during preliminary investigation, police identified him and initiated legal proceedings.According to a statement issued by Bihar Police Headquarters, “Preliminary examination of the seized mobiles revealed evidence associated with WhatsApp groups, Telegram user IDs and links, as well as messages and other digital material allegedly connected with the purchase and sale of obscene and sexually exploitative content.”Investigators also found evidence of digital transactions linked to the suspected activity. The accused’s identity has not been disclosed due to the ongoing investigation.Police are analysing the recovered digital evidence and financial transactions to trace other persons, accounts, groups and links and establish the money trail.
