Jammu, Oct 3: The Jammu Division of Northern Railway registered 6,617 cases and recovered Rs 48.88 lakh in revenue during a special ticket checking drive conducted throughout September.

The intensive drive was carried out from September 1 to 30 by the division’s Ticket Checking Squad to curb ticketless and irregular travel.

The cases also included violations related to smoking and littering at railway stations and on trains.

The checking was conducted at major stations, including Jammu Tawi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Udhampur and Pathankot Cantt, as well as on various trains.

The division urged passengers to travel with valid tickets and refrain from smoking and littering, stating that such violations are punishable offences.
