Rajkot: A 37-year-old man filed a complaint at the Pradhyuman Nagar police station after burglars broke into his house in the Railnagar area of Rajkot on Feb 19 and fled with cash and silver jewellery worth Rs 1.62 lakh.The complainant, Anil Manani (37), a resident of Radhika Residency and a salesman with GVL Industries Limited, told police that he and his family had left early in the morning to attend a relative’s wedding in Ahmedabad.Manani returned to Rajkot alone around 5pm and found the lock of the main door broken and the inner door forced open. On checking the house, he found that an iron cupboard in a downstairs room had been damaged, though nothing was missing from it.Police said burglars had broken open an iron cupboard and locker in an upstairs room and stolen Rs 25,000 in cash kept there. Another Rs 1.25 lakh in cash was stolen from an adjacent room. The accused also stole a silver chain weighing about 50 grams and a pair of silver bangles weighing around 40 grams. The total value of the stolen property has been estimated at Rs 1.62 lakh.Police have registered an offence against unknown persons and launched an investigation.
