Mysuru: Mysore MP Yaduveer Wadiyar Tuesday said a railway underbridge will be built near Kukkarahalli lake, with work set to begin within the next 15 days.He was speaking to reporters after inspecting the site along with officials from the National Highways Authority of India and other departments concerned. The MP said the green cover in the area would be protected and that trees would not be axed but relocated. He said 40 trees will be shifted from around the Manipal Hospital junction as part of the flyover project.Yaduveer expressed strong dissatisfaction with the functioning of govt officials in Mysuru district, alleging that an “officialdom culture” prevails in which elected representatives are not given due importance. “Officials are not responding to the concerns and requests of public representatives,” he said, adding that this persists despite Mysuru being the home district of chief minister Siddaramaiah. He urged the concerned authorities to be more responsive and accountable and to work in coordination with elected representatives to address public grievances effectively. The MP also objected to what he termed the unscientific installation of traffic signals across Mysuru city. He said signals have been placed at very short distances, causing inconvenience to motorists and unnecessary traffic delays. “It is unclear who has authorised such installations. The public is facing difficulties due to poorly planned signal placements,” he said.Yaduveer also criticised the functioning of the authorities at Chamundi Hills, stating that officials are not responding to local residents’ concerns. Referring to issues with the Shree Chamundeshwari Kshetra Development Authority, he said that multiple complaints have been received about officials disregarding public opinion and failing to address local problems. He noted that the matter is currently under consideration in court.
