Kanpur: A joint team of police and administration conducted a raid at ARTO office premises in Kanpur Nagar on Monday and caught 11 suspected brokers allegedly active in and around the office.The action was carried out on the instructions of district magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh. The team was led by Joint Magistrate and SDM Sadar Anubhav Singh and ADCP South Sumit Sudhakar Ram Teke.All 11 suspects were questioned, and officials investigated their role and possible connections with officers and employees of the ARTO office.Officials said the joint team reached the ARTO office and began verification of people present on the premises. People found in suspicious circumstances were questioned about their presence.In the preliminary investigation, some discrepancies came to light in the matching of cash and accounting records.The DM said, “It will be ensured that citizens get govt services directly through the prescribed process, within the time limit and at the fixed fee. A detailed investigation is being conducted into the role of the suspects caught and the discrepancies that have surfaced. If collusion of any officer-employee with middlemen or any financial irregularity comes to light, accountability will be fixed and strict action will be taken.”
