Koderma: Police have launched a QR code-based smart beat policing system across the district to strengthen patrolling, improve public safety and make operations transparent.SP Kumar Shivashish told TOI that 160 QR codes had been installed at locations. These include 42 in Tilaiya, 36 in Koderma, 20 in Jainagar, 17 in Nawalshahi, 12 in Markacho, 11 in Domchanch, 7 in Satgawan, 6 each in Chandwara and Tilaiya Dam outpost, and 3 in Dhab.Patrolling teams will scan the codes during rounds. Each scan will create a record of the team’s time, location and observations, enabling officers to monitor movement and assess performance. The SP will review the logs and has warned of strict action against negligent personnel.Police said the system would improve information gathering, reduce response time and strengthen crime prevention. Residents welcomed the initiative, saying it could make markets, residential areas and sensitive locations safer.
