Srinagar, Oct 04: A colourful mural featuring Bigg Boss contestant and Kashmiri singer Qazi Touqeer has caught the attention of residents and visitors on a Srinagar road opposite Amar Singh College, adding a touch of popular culture to the city’s growing street-art landscape.
The painting has been created by local artists Shahran Fayaz and Er Sahil Manzoor, who have portrayed Qazi Touqeer on a roadside wall in a vibrant artwork.
A video shared on Instagram by the artists shows glimpses of the making of the mural, from the initial work on the wall to the final portrait. In the video, the artists can also be heard using the Kashmiri phrase “Khanyaruk Tcchur”, while one of them is seen using his signature expression, “I am a Rockstar Baby.”
The mural has since become a point of attraction for people passing through the area, with visitors stopping to look at the artwork and take photographs.
The artists said the painting was made as a gesture of support for Qazi Touqeer and to celebrate his journey in the entertainment space.
The artwork has also generated interest among youngsters, particularly Qazi’s followers, who have been sharing photographs and videos of the mural on social media.
Qazi Touqeer, who hails from Srinagar, gained widespread recognition after his participation in Bigg Boss 20, where his personality and journey attracted a sizable following. His growing popularity has also made him a familiar face among Kashmiri audiences.
The mural comes at a time when street art and public murals are increasingly being used in Srinagar to transform otherwise ordinary walls and public spaces into colourful expressions of local culture, personalities and contemporary themes.
For visitors, the Qazi’s mural has now become another visual landmark on the busy stretch opposite Amar Singh College, reflecting the growing influence of social media, entertainment and street art on Kashmir’s urban cultural landscape.
