The well, originally built during the Kurundwad Sarkar era, is known for its solid stone masonry and is remembered as Vadgaon’s primary water source for decades. Local elders recall that the well supplied clean drinking water throughout the year and never ran dry, owing to a strong natural spring.Over the years, the structure fell into neglect, partially collapsed, and eventually filled in, leaving behind only memories.Recognising both its historical value and its potential to meet present-day water needs, Pyaas Foundation took up the restoration under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) grant from AKP Ferrocast.The work was formally launched in the presence of Belagavi mayor Mangesh Pawar, AKP Ferrocast MD Parag Bhandare, and representatives of the foundation, including president Dr Madhav Prabhu and secretary Dr Preeti Doddwad, along with other office-bearers and local residents.According to a release from the Foundation, once restored, the well is expected to serve as a reliable water source again, while standing as a symbol of community-led environmental responsibility and heritage preservation.
