Patna: Purnia MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav on Sunday said the govt had failed to improve law and order and ignored the demands of PhD holders and research scholars on an indefinite fast for 13 days near the police station at Gardanibagh. He also joined their protest.“The dictatorial govt is in power. The state is in a bad shape on the law and order front and no one appears to be safe. Besides, competitive examinations are not being properly held. The overall situation has become critical,” Yadav told reporters.Yadav objected to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s use of the phrase ‘dimagi Naxal (intellectual Naxal)’ in his Independence Day speech and called it “Bauddhik Naxal”. Citing freedom fighters of various hues and former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he asked, “Should they be called Bauddhik Naxals.”“On the other hand, Gen-Z and Gen-Alpha protesters are being threatened. Girl protesters are being visited by the police at their houses and also threatened,” Yadav said, adding that he would call a Bihar bandh if the scholars’ demands were not met.Their demands include applying Table 3 of UGC Regulation 2018 in assistant professor appointments, strict implementation of the domicile policy, raising the maximum age for assistant professor appointments to 55 years and cancelling the 70th BPSC examination.Yadav also sought an inquiry committee to probe alleged irregularities in assistant professor appointments and the examination conducted for them.
