Rajkot: The Kutch West special operations group (SOG) arrested a 30-year-old man from Punjab with 185g of heroin worth Rs 37 lakh from Mundra taluka.The accused was identified as Karaj Singh Manish of Moga district in Punjab. An FIR was registered at Pragpar police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against Karaj Singh and his alleged accomplice Ravi alias Baddha.Police sub-inspector T B Rabari of the Kutch SOG said the team was patrolling Mundra taluka on Aug 22 when it received information that Karaj Singh, who had arrived in Kutch in a container trailer, was carrying narcotics.Acting on the information, the SOG team reached the parking area where the accused had parked the vehicle and searched the trailer cabin. They found transparent plastic pouch containing a cream-coloured powder and lumps inside a black handbag. An FSL officer examined the substance and confirmed it to be heroin.During questioning, Karaj Singh allegedly told police that he had received the consignment from his friend Ravi alias Baddha five to six days earlier. He claimed to have purchased 200g of heroin for Rs 2.40 lakh in cash.Police said Karaj Singh also admitted that he used to bring trailer loads to Mundra and sell the drug in small quantities. The SOG seized the heroin, container trailer, mobile phone, cash and other articles as part of the investigation.Police are now searching for Ravi, who has been named as a co-accused in the case.
