Patna: The UGC Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at Patna University is set to organise three major training programmes for higher education teachers in September, covering faculty induction, mental health and life skills, and emerging interdisciplinary research in life sciences.
Centre director Atul Aditya Pandey said the month-long Faculty Induction Programme (Gurudakshata) for newly appointed teachers will be conducted online from Sept 1 to 29. As many as 95 teachers from several states are expected to participate in the programme.
The programme will cover a wide range of areas, including curriculum design and development, teaching-learning methodologies, assessment and evaluation, university rules and regulations, the higher education ecosystem, personal and emotional development, counselling, academic leadership, constitutional values and human rights, sustainable development goals and environmental awareness. Participants will receive certificates after completion of the programme and their assessment.
From Sept 7 to 12, the centre, in collaboration with the department of psychology of Magadh Mahila College, will conduct a short-term course on “Mental health and life skills in higher educational institutions.” Course coordinator Nidhi Singh said resource persons from India and abroad have been invited. More than 100 participants have already registered, reflecting growing concern over mental health and well-being in academic institutions.
Another major programme, an interdisciplinary refresher course in life sciences, will be organised from Sept 7 to 19 in collaboration with the postgraduate department of zoology, Patna University.
Department head Parimal Kumar Khan said the course would focus on contemporary teaching and research in life sciences, with scientists and senior academics from national and international institutions serving as resource persons. Course coordinator Gyan Bahadur Chand said the programme had received a large number of applications.
